In the 8th tournament of the 3rd seasonโs. league 21 players from 10 countries participated. Three three new playersย masterfisz ๐ต๐ฑ, wcp2347 ๐จ๐ด and gatoone ๐จ๐ด also from Colombia participated in this league for the first time this season. Taking the total number of players to 54.
The tournament was won by mrjohnson ๐ณ๐ฌ with a 6.5 point score drawing with kongadji ๐ง๐ฏ. kongadji ๐ง๐ฏ placed 2nd with 6.0 points, drawing two games with to mrjohnson ๐ณ๐ฌ & josty ๐ฌ๐ญ. josty ๐ฌ๐ญ placed 3rd with 5.0 points, losing games to mrjohnson ๐ณ๐ฌ & kongadj ๐ง๐ฏ. issahfuseinji ๐ฌ๐ญ & abilohre ๐ฌ๐ญ placed 4th and 5th respectively. Well done to them & everyone else who participated.
We applaud the two female players vivians256 ๐บ๐ฌ, bme ๐บ๐ฌ, for representing their teams and female players. A special mention is made of wcp2347 ๐จ๐ด & gatoone ๐จ๐ด junior players for participating in this tournament. In this edition the top 3 positions were occupied by players from three countries: Nigeria ๐ณ๐ฌ Benin ๐ง๐ฏ & Ghana ๐ฌ๐ญ, well done to them ๐๐๐.
The Oga Ota of Nigeria ๐ณ๐ฌ continues with his interrupted winning streak. He remains in the lead with 7 wins out of 8 and 47.5 points. roberisco ๐ฌ๐ญ with 1 win played over 6 games, now has 31.5 points. The overall difference between top four players has stretched to 7.5, 11.0 & 15.5 points for the next two respectively. Last yearโs Asian Champion serikaktayev ๐ฐ๐ฟ continues to move down the ranks with his absence , but his team mate e17 is still in the runnings in 5th with 32.0 points. The European & American champions monkftw ๐ฌ๐ง & daallo ๐ฒ๐ฝ with 24.0 & 23.0 points respectively are still some 20.0 odd points behind the main contenders . We continue to observe if they can make up the difference.
Will there be new players including master & grandmasters joining the league to add more dynamism to it. Time will tell, as the players from Antigua & Barbuda ๐ฆ๐ฌ, Barbados ๐ง๐ง, Burkina Faso ๐ง๐ซ, Cape Verde ๐จ๐ป, Gambia, Guinea ๐ฌ๐ณ, Guinea Bissau ๐ฌ๐ผ Ivory Coast ๐จ๐ฎ, Mali ๐ฒ๐ฑ, Niger ๐ณ๐ช, Sierra Leone ๐ธ๐ฑ, Saint Lucia ๐ฑ๐จ, Togo ๐น๐ฌ are yet to enter the fray. Players from 18 countries that participated in last yearโs league are yet to participate in this edition of the league. Do well to recruit other players to participate in the upcoming practice tournaments in preparation for the championships to come.
Please take note, the top positioned players who are International or Full members of The Oware Society before the league ends, will be awarded cash prizes. Therefore If you place in the top 3, and wish to be considered for a cash award, join The Oware Society before the league ends. The top placed, International or Full members in the female, junior & continental categories will be awarded cash prizes so long as they are Full or International members and enough funds are raised. If enough funds are raised we will consider awarding prizes for country winners, so long as the country is represented by 5 or more players, is not in the top three or a continental champion.
