Last week saw the return of marathon matches, with the holidays looming players had more time to engage with each other in mental combat. There was one change in the top five with masterfisz continuing his yoyo affair with the top five, replacing salgerd in 5th place. dsk still reigns supreme with 2117 points, after losing some games to wkc1342, who has been on a mission to crack dsk. The top 50 continues to remain resilient with only a few players moving in and out.
Highlights: The highlight of the week was the Ugandan Online Oware Championship which is discussed below in a section dedicated to it. A match of particular interest that took place on Monday between lewykapy and lordsoso demonstrated the extent to which players go to defeat their opponents and thus gain more ranking points. Not the first time lewykapy baited lordsoso with 1-minute games mid match, but what was a delight to watch lordsoso rising to the challenge ending up in a 2 -2 draw.
Risers: last week saw major movements by a few players in or into the top 50. In the main the previous week trend continued with most players moving a few places up for down from the previous week’s positions. The largest riser was tchayna who move a whooping 25 positions to 24th place. lawhkx 2nd largest riser moved 25th places to 32nd position into the top 50. zingman moved 18 places to the 20th position. gouglouf rose 14 places into the top 50 by wining some games against to ranked players. kostyan2 continued his rise up the ranking table, rising 12 places to 34th position. panfile and kamilrybnik both rose 6 places to 11th and 18th position respectively.
Fallers: In the top 50 only two players fell by substantive amounts: monkftw and harrison01. monkftw fell 9 places to the 40th position. harrison01 fell 26 places to the 48th position. Other fallers were tinctoria who fell 4 places to the 39th position. Lower down in the ranks gunne98 fell a whooping 49 places to the 136th position.
Mini Marathon Matches: As already mentioned last week saw the return of the marathon matches. The longest matches featured lordsoso probably the more prolific player on the platform.
On Monday zingman & lordsoso played a 17-game match resulting in a 13 – 4 win for zingman. The longest match also played on Monday was the 30-game match with tchayna resulting in a 17 - 2 draw – 11 win for lordsoso. Also, on played on Monday lordsoso & tornados engaged a 23-game match resulting in a resounding 22 – draw defeat for tornados. kamilrybnik played an eleven-game match with lordsoso resulting in an 8 – draw - 2 win for kamilrybnik, kamlirybnik gave sanaker a 14 – 0 defeat in their 14-game match, kamilrybnik & panfile played an eleven-game match the outcome being a 6 – draw – 4 win for kamilrybnik. Finally, panfile & kamilrybnik played an eleven-game match resulting in a 4 - draw – 6 loss for panfile.
On Tuesday lordsoso & tchayna played a 13-game match resulting in an 8 – 5 victory for lordsoso. panfile & kamilrybnik played a 19-game match resulting in a 12 – 7 win for panfile.
On Wednesday zingman & tchayna played a 13-game match resulting in 9 – 4 win for zingman. zingman & lordsoso played a 25-game match resulting in a 15 – draw – 9 win for zingman. wkc1342 & tchayna played an eleven-game match resulting 10 – 1 resounding victory for wkc1342. Finally, the third longest match played on Wednesday was that between lordsoso & tornados, who played a 24-game match resulting in a 17 – 2 draw – 5.
On Thursday tchayna & zingman played a 14-game match resulting in a 12 – draw - 1 win for zingman.

On Sunday wkc1342 & lordsoso played a twelve-game match resulting in a 10 – draw – 1 defeat for lordsoso. lordsoso & harrison01 played a 19-game match resulting in a 9 – 10 loss for lordsoso, lordsoso gave 54560africa a resounding 17 - 0 defeat. kamilrybnik & lordsoso played an eleven-game match resulting in a 7 – draw – 3 win for kamirlybnik. harrison01 vs tornados played a ten-game match resulting in an 8 – 2 win for harrison01. winin & zingman played a 23-game match resulting in a 9 – draw – 13 win for zingman. winin & lawhkx played a nine-game match resulting in a 3 – 2 draw – 4 win for lawhkx. The second longest matc was between winin & harrison01 who played a 26-game match resulting in a 19 - 7 win for winin. winin & tornados played an eleven-game match resulting in a resounding 10 – draw loss for tornados. zingman & goldm played a ten-game match resulting in a 9 – 1 defeat for goldm. zingman & ddi engaged in a 13-game match resulting in a 9 – 4 defeat for ddi.
Practice Tournament: Saturday’s practice tournament saw an influx of new players debuting in preparation for the Ugandan Online Oware Championship the next day. In total seventeen participants took part in a keenly contested tournament. At the end of seven rounds unsurprisingly the favourite serikaktayev came out on top with seven straight wins. ddi came in second and kzkz888 placed third.
Ugandan Online Oware Championship: This championship was a great success that went beyond all expectations. In total 50 players registered and 31 took part, 29 of them being Ugandan based players. After seven rounds harrison01 won the championship with 5.5 points. namukose placed second with 5.5 points. In third place was bme with 5.0.
